About the event
Special Collections is situated on the 5th floor of the NTU Main Library, holds over 250,000 volumes of rare books in Chinese and other languages, particularly the Tan-Hsin Archive (1776-1895) (judiciary archive of Tamsui and Hsinchu area), Ming editions of thread-bound books (from the 15th to 16th century), the Rekidai Hoan (1424-1867) (diplomatic archive of the Ryūkyū Kingdom), and the collection of 15th-century European incunabula. It is the largest of such holdings of any academic library in Taiwan. The library has also actively acquired manuscripts from the University's faculty, alumni, and non-NTU notable persons to establish such a resource hub.
Visit the Special Collections Exhibition Area and the Conservation Studio at NTU Library. A specialist will introduce the traditional restoration techniques used for Chinese and Japanese stitched-bound books, as well as the tools employed in conservation work.
