About the event
Founded in 1928 as the “Taihoku Imperial University Library,” the NTU Library has long been a campus cornerstone. The new Main Library, opened in 1998, is a major landmark offering quality collection spaces, a welcoming reading environment, and diversified IT-supported services. Its first floor was renovated in 2023 to create modern learning spaces.
The Library holds 8.4 million items in total, including over 250,000 rare books in Chinese and other languages, such as the Tan-Hsin Archive, Ming editions of thread-bound books, the Rekidai Hōan, and 15th-century European incunabula—forming the largest such collection among academic libraries in Taiwan. It also actively acquires manuscripts from NTU faculty, alumni, and notable figures.
